2017-2018 Harker DECA's Officer Team
Ashna Chandra, Harker DECA's co-CEO, is a senior who plays for the Harker Girls Golf Team and helps run BEcon, a business and economics conference held in March. She is interested in pursuing computer science and economics in college. She also enjoys traveling and hiking. Last summer, she traveled to Ecuador, Peru, and the Galapagos Islands.
Shania Wang is currently a junior who serves as the Vice President of Public Relations. As someone who is extremely outgoing and approachable, she is excited to welcome all new members. Aside from DECA, she is an officer for Student Council, TEDx, and WiSTEM, and she enjoys STEM research. She also loves discovering new music and places to eat. Her favorite part of DECA is the opportunity is to network and meet people from all around the world.
Radhika Jain is a loving and diligent sophomore who serves as the Director of Communications. She enjoys all things performing arts and partakes in many Harker productions. Aside from school, she also loves going on hikes, trying new foods, and watching Netflix. She also loves dogs, and recently got one after her freshmen year!
Zara Vakath is an energetic, committed, and spontaneous sophomore who loves traveling. As a freshman, she placed second at SCDC, which qualified her to compete at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California. Aside from serving as Harker DECA's Assistant to Public Relations, she has also been taking martial arts classes since she was 5. She is currently a third degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Hard-working, positive, and caring, Juston Glass is the Director of the Business and Entrepreneurship Department at Harker. Aside from DECA, he is also the advisor for TEDx, CareerConnect, Investment Club, Podcast Series, BEcon, and Harker Incubator. His favorite part about DECA is seeing students who have previously not won work hard and continue to practice, ultimately winning both events at the next conference. Over the summer, he held an international business camp in Japan, hosted Wharton @ Harker SOAR camp, and traveled to Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona with his family and friends.
A junior, Enya Lu serves as the VP of Competitions and Strategy. She is a part of the Podcast and Academic Decathlon teams, and she taught writing and business during the summer at Breakthrough Silicon Valley. Not only is she passionate about finance and education, she also identifies as a major K-pop fan!
Phil Han is currently a sophomore serving as Harker DECA's Director of Roleplays. He's extremely outgoing, patient, and approachable, and he looks forward to working and bonding with all of the new additions to Harker DECA's community. Phil is also extremely invested in and is fascinated with all facets of business and economics. Outside of school, he is currently working on creating his own start-up company. Phil also plays tackle football for Harker's JV football team. He's extremely passionate about his interests; for one, Phil's a die-hard otaku, so feel free to talk to him about anime or Japanese culture. He's also a foodie, frequently watches food vlogs, and has been cooking since elementary school. Furthermore, he is an adrenaline junky and seeks new experiences and thrills: this past summer he trekked 100 km across the Gobi Desert in the span of four days; he has also cliff dived in Jamaica, fished out a shark, and jet-skied in the Pacific.
Allison Jia is a sophomore currently serving as Harker DECA's Director of Writtens. She looks forward to bonding with all the new members of DECA and helping them along their competitions journey. In her free time, she loves eating food, playing volleyball, and watching movies. Her favorite movies are any of the Pirates of the Caribbean ones, and her favorite TV shows are either Leverage or How I Met Your Mother. Additionally, Allison loves anything to do with the ocean, from snorkeling to learning about different marine animals. She also loves memes.
Mona Lee is a bubbly but clumsy senior who serves as the Director of Examinations. Besides DECA, she also competes in the Vex Robotics Competition where she actively works to increase the participation of girls in robotics through workshops and other events. Over the summer, Mona participated in two summer programs at Stanford where she discovered new interests in neuroscience and medicine. Mona also enjoys utilizing her bullet journal, constantly aspiring for the studyblr aesthetic.
Shreyas Chandrashekaran is a senior who not only is involved in DECA as co-CEO but also enjoys participating in Cricket Club, Choir, and other activities. As a freshman, he placed first at SVCDC and SCDC, which qualified him to compete at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. Shreyas was born on an unspecified date, and remains fearful of other individuals figuring out his birthdate and stealing his identity (however, they would need to spell his last name, which many have tried and failed at).
A diligent, intelligent, and driven senior, Vignesh Panchanatham, who often goes by the name Steve, happens to be the National Chess Champion. After transferring to Harker in his sophomore year, he soon became involved in DECA as the Vice President of Operations and the Chess Club as President. A momentous occasion in his life was when he happened to discover his gummy bear allergy on a plane from Philadelphia to San Francisco.
Mahi Kolla is a sophomore who is the Director of Membership. She currently runs her own business called TheMintyBoutique and is vice president of FEM Club a commissioner on the Los Altos Youth Commission. Over the summer, she participated in the Harker Incubator where she was able to grow her business through invaluable feedback from mentors and seed funding from generous donors. Her favorite drink is boba and one day she hopes to run an international business.
Ronit Gagneja, a sophomore, is Harker DECA's Director of Finance. In addition to DECA, Ronit participates in TEDx and Golf and is interested in computer science and business. In his free time, Ronit volunteers at Red Cross and dog shelters and teaches kids how to code.
The Assistant to Operations, Ishaan Chandra is a sophomore who likes to play basketball. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends and watching sports. The 49ers and Warriors are his favorite teams, and he has been watching both teams play since he was 10 years old. He watches every 49ers game in his Bowman jersey and in the same spot on the couch.
