2018-2019 Harker DECA's Officer Team
Shania Wang is currently a senior who serves as the Chief Executive Officer. As someone who is extremely outgoing and approachable, she is excited to welcome all new members. Aside from DECA, she is an officer for ASB, TEDx, Link Crew, and WiSTEM, and she enjoys the intersection of medicine and economics. She also loves discovering new coffeeshops and places to eat. Her favorite part of DECA is the opportunity is to network and meet people from all around the world.
Riya Gupta is currently a senior who serves as the Vice President of Public Relations. Aside from DECA, she is the President of BEcon and enjoys running her business, PromElle, with her partner. This summer she interned at a tech start-up in San Francisco. In her free time she loves singing, dancing, listening to music, drinking coffee, and playing with her dog, Ollie! She’s super approachable and friendly so feel free to say hi or ask her questions anytime!
Elaine Zhai is currently a sophomore who serves as the Director of Communications. Aside from DECA, she participates in wiSTEM, FPS, and Students Partner with Veterans. Her favorite movie is Spy, and her favorite TV show is The Office. Outside of school, she enjoys playing volleyball, watching movies, and discovering new music. Additionally, she loves to travel, and her favorite place she has traveled to is either Santorini, Greece or Venice, Italy.
Anay Karwal is a currently a junior and serves as the Director of Technology for Harker DECA. He has a passion for business and photography, as he co-founded Harker’s Multimedia club this year, a club for students loving film, photography and graphic design. Outside of school, he is working on creating his own start-up company. A fun fact about him is he loves dogs, shoes, hiking, Call of Duty and listening to rap music, specifically Travis Scott.
Hard-working, positive, and caring, Juston Glass is the Director of the Business and Entrepreneurship Department at Harker. Aside from DECA, he is also the advisor for TEDx, CareerConnect, Investment Club, Podcast Series, BEcon, and Harker Incubator. His favorite part about DECA is seeing students who have previously not won work hard and continue to practice, ultimately winning both events at the next conference. Over the summer, he held an international business camp in Japan, hosted Wharton @ Harker SOAR camp, and traveled to Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona with his family and friends.
Phil is an adventurous soul. He seeks fun and adrenaline, lives in the present and calculates for the future. Outside of school he has also interned for one of the biggest gaming technology companies, Razer. He also is a huge foodie and has been cooking since elementary school. He’s also on the varsity football team. Furthermore, he’s a Weaboo so for all of you reading this who know what that means go hit Phil up.
As Director of Roleplays, Claire is passionate about business and extremely excited to welcome the new members of DECA. Claire is currently working on a start-up company with Harker Incubator. Aside from DECA, Claire is part of CareerConnect and does ballet and Chinese dance. Over the summer, she also taught international students English.
Anvitha Tummala is a sophomore currently serving as Harker DECA’s Director of Written Events. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and listening to music. She likes discovering new music from her two favorite genres, alternative/indie and dance/electronic. She likes watching TV, and her favorite TV show is The Office. She also loves dogs and has a white Labrador Retriever named Miko.
Mahi Kolla, a junior, is this year's Executive Vice President. She currently runs her own business called TheMintyBoutique which she started when she was 12 years old, is co- president of FEM Club, and serves as a commissioner on the Los Altos Youth Commission. Over the summer, she participated in Launch X @ UPenn where she learned valuable business advice from Wharton professors and worked with her team to build a start-up. She also interned at Backyard Media and took charge in the launch of their new "Sponsorship on Your Terms" initiative. Her favorite drink is boba and one day she will be CEO of an international company.
Ishaan Chandra is a junior at The Harker School and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations for Harker DECA. Aside from DECA, he pursues interests in business and entrepreneurship, robotics, and computer science. Thus, he also participates in other clubs, where he has positions such as the Operations Associate for TEDxHarkerSchool, Field Leader and Member of Mechanics Team for Harker Robotics, and Graphic Designer for Harker Hacks and Harker CTF. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, watching movies, and listening to music.
Ronit is a junior at The Harker School. He is proud to serve as CFO for Harker’s Business & Entrepreneurship Department, Aside from DECA, he serves as Marketing Associate for TEDxHarkerSchool, Founder of the Red Cross Youth Business Leadership Program, and VP of Finance for Harker UNICEF. His interests are in both business and entrepreneurship and computer science, and he is taking courses to further his understanding of both areas. Outside of school, he enjoys photography, dog sitting, and traveling.
Lisa Barooah is a sophomore serving as Harker DECA’s Director of Membership. She plays for the Harker Girl’s lacrosse team. She loves traveling and tries to vacation every summer and winter break. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing her guitar, and learning languages. Feel free to say hi to her anytime, as she likes to meet new people!
Sidharth is currently a Junior, serving as the Director of Community Engagement. Outside of DECA and school, he enjoys playing and watching sports. He plays as a Wide Receiver and Cornerback on the Harker Football team. Some other sports he loves to play are basketball and swimming. He has volunteered in his library's Summer Reading program to help younger kids learn and get more interested in reading.
